| In this project which we can briefly call “Asia From West to East,” Zamanın Tanığı sets on the road to record the colors from deserts to glaciers in a route from İstanbul to Bering. What we experience and wonder reaches from Anatolia to a north end of Asia.
“The obligations of nature actually are not traps set for us. Nature, it is… Why act like a hero while we know that’s the way it is? We shall not perceive the struggle given to reach there, as a struggle to overcome nature. We shall not see it as a competitor since it does not compete or give humane reactions. We can only see ourselves as a part of it.” -Cemal Gülas- (North Pole accession note, April 1998)
Our goal is to expand knowledge and the concern for learning by visual products, and contribute to the constitution of individuals who are imaginative and responsible also in the social fields. Developing of our bonds with our cultural roots is possible with knowing the geography we live in and our inheritance.
“Being in the field teaches you to live side by side with events and objects you can never control; keeping your mind open against surprises that might overtake you, it fixes in your memory how to be patient and how to watch, in a way you cannot forget.” –Cemal Gülas-
